Day 78 — Back to Work Day

Geoffrey and I are back to work today. There was plenty of puppy energy to spur us on. The before-gym play session was rambunctious, but Aurora settled down (eventually) on the bed with the other red dogs while I went to work out. Refreshed, she began taunting the older dogs after the reds woke up and Geoffrey started getting ready for work. Paris usually sleeps happily on Geoffrey's robe when he showers, but today she had to contend with demands for play! Day 78 -- Morning Play Session #2 And, Aurora is getting big enough to demand attention. At [...]

Day 54 — Taking on the Adults

By |2018-11-23T10:00:47-08:00November 16, 2018|dachshunds|

MUNI started off the day at a fiesty 3 pounds, 13 ounces, up 2 ounces from just yesterday. Well, maybe her weight isn't necessarily feisty, but everything else abut her is turning out that way. It's a good thing! Day 54 -- Woof! or Grrr!!! She's playing hard three or four times a day. Her sessions are pretty aggressive, fearlessly playing with any adult, canine or human. If she had litter mates we probably wouldn't find her attacks on them so fierce, but watching her pose and "Grrr!" at her mother, aunt, grandmother, or Paris is a kick. [...]

Day 41 — MUNI Decides to Play

By |2018-11-11T16:07:05-08:00November 3, 2018|dachshunds|

It's the weekend, and MUNI woke up in the mood to play. She's been playful and finger gnawing at times, but never completely in play mode. Until today! The stimulus might have been the late 11:30 am weigh in (3# 3.7 oz) on the kitchen floor. She's been at that location before, but she's not really comfortable out of the whelping box. Day 41 -- Puppy on the Floor Apparently, something got her juices going! Of course, as soon as she could get away, she climbed (or was helped, I cannot remember) back into the safety of the [...]

Day 36 — Let the Play Continue!

By |2018-11-04T15:40:03-08:00October 29, 2018|dachshunds|

It's Monday and the start of MUNI's fifth week! She weighed 2 pounds, 14.4 ounces at 8:20, and seems very comfortable with her full figure. The morning activity of practicing play was truly exhausting for Mom and puppy. Gnawing at ears and waving your front paws at the adults is very tiring! Day 36 - The Pack that Naps Together... The challenge today is to keep the puppy-sized tennis balls in the vicinity of the puppy and not allow Apex to run off into the back yard with all three. I decided that we'd give up one to [...]
