Syntax Workman Kulik Dog January 10, 1992 - March 20, 2009 Syntax passed away in Geoffrey's arms this afternoon after a 12-hour illness. She was preceded in death by her long-time companion Audit who died just two months ago. The vet identified spleen tumors which have been growing for many months; after Audit left the pack Syntax let the disease progress and spread to where it manifested in her brain today. Syntax is Still Critical
We've been at Syntax's side all day. We're recording vitals every 5 minutes. When she's awake she is in horrible pain. No more seizures, though. The only cause for her condition that will let her come home is an infection. No temp, but that's not conclusive. The plan: ulrasound. If tumors in body, stop. If no tumor and she's stable at 5, xfer to overnight vet and see if antibiotics kick in.
Very Sick Syntax
Syntax, our 17 year old, went into seizures at 6 this morning. We took her to the emergency vet for Valium and now we're at her side at Her regular doctor's.
I Want to Fire My Bad AIG Employees
As an 80% owner in AIG, I want to know why I haven't fired the scum that lost money and "earned" bonuses. The bonuses may have been owed because of [fraudulent] contracts, but did "we" also guarantee lifetime employment? I'm ready to toss out my under-performing employees. Today. HR, prepare the termination notices. And, I am no lawyer, but I thought there is an ability to challenge contracts that are manifestly against the public interest. State Republicans Turn Down $2.5+ Billion in Federal Money for the Unemployed
Yesterday the Obstructionist Party of a Vengeful God kept California from accepting over $2.5 Billion in Federal stimulus money which would have extended unemployment benefits for 20 weeks. California's unemployment rate is 10.1%. The vote in the California Assembly was one vote short of the super-majority needed to accept the money. All Democrats and 2 Republicans voted for the measure. The Republicans swear that they love the idea of helping the unemployed. They were just afraid that there might be flaws in the bill or, in my favorite comment, worried that the aid for people hurting NOW, "might raise costs [...]
